Day 43 Maidencombe to Exmouth approx 14 miles

I got the bus back to Maidencombe this morning and set off to do the 3 odd miles we didn't do yesterday. Probably quite a good idea we stopped when we did, as it was a tough stretch. The sun was out, and there were some long uphill stretches and the downhills were very muddy!

I ended up back in Shaldon and got the little ferry over to Teignmouth. Here we followed the sea wall right by the railway line with the trains going past a couple of metres away.

At the end of the beach, we had to follow steps under the railway and follow the lane up to the main road where we had to make a few twists and turns through roads and fields to end up in Dawlish a while later. Here again there was a sea wall next to the railway line which we followed for ages until Dawlish Warren around the corner.

Here (after brief interlude to pet a puppy which was exactly like Rudy 11 weeks old!!!) we moved onto the road. Was not looking forward to a few miles of road walking but luckily there was a new cycle/bridleway so we used that for a bit before a pavement into Starcross, where we got rained on.

We had a half hour wait for the ferry to Exmouth which landed us at the harbour.

I had the very familiar walk up to Bev's house overlooking the sea, where I've just had an amazing roast dinner and a generally lovely time!

Feet again took a battering as we were on concrete for the most of the day but hopefully a shorter day tomorrow and rest day weds will sort me out.
