Mum & I drove back to Polmear and parked the car before setting off for Fowey in the morning sunshine.
Immediately the paths were tough and VERY slippery after the rain in the night. In fact we hardly got to look at the beautiful views because we had to concentrate so hard on our feet.
We descended into the lovely village of Polkerris and climbed out of it through a lovely wood. I love going through woodlands because for so much of the walk I have been walking on cliffs!
We were trudging along in the mud when I heard a crunching noise behind me, I turned around to see Mum crossed legged in a hedge! In between laughing and pain from brambles she demanded i take a photo for the blog! It gave us a lot of laughs! Thanks Mum!
The paths got easier around the Gribben, topped by a huge red & white tower. The walk down from the headland was lovely, through woods and down to the most amazing house behind a little cove and a lake held back by a concrete wall. There were swans. It was idyllic. Another one for the lottery fund.
A bit more climbing and mud and we got to Readymoney Cove, where i have been a few times with my friend Fi (hi Fi!). Daphne du Maurier used to live in a house just behind the beach. Along the road into Fowey which is a great town, full of character and shops. We grabbed a taxi back to Polmear to get the car with the worlds worst taxi driver who was NOT happy about Rudy in the car despite the fact we had told him we has a dog ( he thougt it would be the size of a Pekinese!?) idiot.
Anyhoo we hot footed it back on the car ferry and to Polruan where my lovely friend Fi's parents have a beautiful house, where they have very kindly met mum & I crash for the night. We got settled in, and popped on the passenger ferry to have a mooch around Fowey which was awesome. Back at the house now, just resting and probs an early night. Thank you Elaine & Simon, what a treat to stay in such a gorgeous house for the night!
